Uses/Benefit of Pterocarpus: Pterocarpus marsupium is well-knwon as Malabar kino, Indian Kino, and Vijaysar. Very Helthy Pterocarpus Marsupium is widely used in Ayurveda for the therapy of conditions like diarrhea, viriligo, eczema, psoriasis, obesity and diabetes.
The anti-hyperlipdemic properties of Vijaysar tree helps in reducing total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein and serum triglyceride levels in the body. The antibacterial and astringent properties of Vijaysar helps to treat cuts, bruises and other skin problems. The heartwood of pterocarpus marsupium is astringent, bitter acrid, anti inflammatory, anthelmintic and anodyne. It is considered magical for diabetes. It turns the water brown as soon as it comes in contact with the water. It is good for elephantiasis, leucoderma, diarrhea, dysentery, rectalgia, cough and greyness of hair. The bark is used as an astringent and in toothache. The bruised leaves are considered useful as an external application for boils, sores and skin diseases.
