Features

1) Water Flow Sensor System

i) The amount of water supply to the heater can be adjusted via the external Stop Valve Control Knob.

ii) If sufficient water flow (2 l/min) flows through the heater, the Flow Switch will turned on to put the heater under voltage.

iii)   Hot water will come out from the showerhead as a result of heat exchange in the heater unit.iv)

iv)   Yellow indicator (‘POWER’) indicates electric power is heating the element

Flow Switch as Safety Device

A combination of reed switch and magnet jumper to sense the incoming water flow and to turn on the heater. This feature acts as a safety device to switch off the power to the heating element if water is not flowing through. Minimum Flow Rate to operate the heater - 2 litre/min.

2) Double Function Manual Reset Thermostat -prevents scalding

            Important safety feature to cut off the heater power supply if water temperature exceeds 55^ο C. Automatically resets when water temperature drops below approximately 44^ο C.

A double function thermostat has double function, where in the event the temperature rise abnormally (exceeded 90^ο C), the thermostat will be triggered and tripped permanently.

With this feature, the following problem can be detected & prevent: -

i)   Dry burnt of heating element and heater canister.

ii)  Malfunction of electronic/ electrical components.

iii) Flow switch failure.

iv) Triac Shorting.

v)   Electronic Temp. Control Board failure.

                         The Purpose of DFT Thermostat

Others brand of Instant Water Heater uses Single Temperature Thermostat, in which 60^ο C cuts off, the thermostat is auto reset at 44^ο C, with this scenario, it went on few cycles (cut-out/ cut in), the water inside plastic tank become dry up, and steam went out from hose to hand shower, and eventually dry burnt occur, and heat will puncture through from plastic canister wall, and leakage will occur. The picture below showing plastic canister in which dry burnt has occur, and temperature inside plastic canister over heater, and cause canister to puncture, burnt as shown to photo on the right.

3) Built in Electronic Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker (ELCB)

Function – Safety Device to cut off the electrical supply if leakage of current occurs (15mA within 0.1sec). Thus preventing the user from electrocution. (See attached Keppen’s safety limit line)

The ‘TEST’ & ‘RESET’ button is to check on the ELCB functionality. The users advised to test the ELCB regularly. Press the ‘TEST’ button to stimulate the leakage of current inside the heater. Electric supply to Heater will break off immediately when the ‘TEST’ button is pressed.
