Colour ranges from light to dark. Liquid malt extracts can be used as a straight grain malt replacement or when added to a conventional mash, as a brew extender.

It is used in manufacture of Malt Based Food as a base ingredient confectioneries and bakeries as flavour and colour improver; dairy products to mask unpleasant flavour; soups and sauces.
